7th House: Libra, Partnerships, and Balancing We vs Me

Valentine’s Day was yesterday and for some, they are waking up to the fact that some of their relationships are seriously out of balance. Romantic relationships and even the platonic partnerships too. Ever since this past full moon, we’ve really been been hunkering down and trying to find that balance between we and me. The holiday came through and as always, illuminated this portion of our lives.

In astrology, Libra is represented by the scales for more than one reason. It’s justice, it’s partnerships, and it’s balance over it all. Libra carries the archetype as the friend and the arbitrator. They are the ones who are usually appointed to settle a dispute because they have the ability to see both sides of any issue. This leads to that indecisive archetype that Libra is also known for.

Libra is Venus ruled, so there is an awareness to aesthetics and popularity. The best way I can describe the true essence of Libra is the character Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

Libra is pretty good at initiating action and the one thing they stand ten toes down behind is not compromising its high principals for the sake of popularity. However, keep in mind that this is Libra’s pure expression when not afflicted. If afflicted, we a more fickle side. They cannot stick to what they have chosen meaning they bounce around from relationship to relationship and/or from job to job.

Sitting opposite Aries, Libra is a fellow cardinal sign. We see this axis play out as we vs me. Aries is very much self-focused and represented as "I am" and Libra is group focused and represented as "We are".

Now, take a look at your chart, wherever you have Libra is where you have to balance yourself with others. Balancing yourself and others is an important part of life. It's important to take care of your own needs and wants, while also being considerate and respectful of those around you. A great way to practice this is to make sure to schedule time for yourself, while also making an effort to help those around you. It's important to remember that you don't have to make sacrifices in order to help others, and that taking care of yourself is just as important as helping those around you.

There will always be a strong want for teamwork and one of Libra's superpowers is gathering the support of others. I don't know how many Libras I've met that lead some of the most poppin' Facebook groups with an expansive admin team or they are the leaders of their friend group also with an expansive group of friends. However, there is a tendency to sound hollow at times which leads others to believe that their compliments, love, and praise is fake. Is this true or not? It does depend on the person, honestly, but I will say I've also seen some of those same Libras I mentioned get into with others over this and they do not fare well due to Libra's underlining emotional intensity.

Putting it altogether, the area in your chart that you should look to for this energy in your life will be the 7th house. This house will determine how you identify with others and depending on what’s residing in here will speak to our own evolution and development in order to respond to these partnerships that we are a part of.

When we're able to learn about the true nature of our many relationships, this would definitely, for example make your Valentine's Day a bit more intentional knowing how much effort to pour out.

The 7th house also gives us insight into our open enemies and lawsuits, however, we'll get more into that next week as we wrap us the last week of February's topic on love, caring, and relationships.
